Ebay was started in September 1995 and is the largest marketplace for goods sold by individuals and businesses. Ebay helps people sell virtually anything you can imagine, such as toys, computers, clothes through to larger items such as furniture and cars, even houses! So why do so many people use eBay? Because most people can’t resist a bargain. Ebay makes it easy for anyone to find exactly what they want and at the price they want to pay.
Buying on eBay is very easy. Firstly you have to register. This is very straightforward and only takes a couple of minutes. You enter your name, address and contact details, choose a user ID and a password, agree to the user agreement and you are done.
Next, you bid on the item you want to buy. It's a good idea to bid the highest you are willing to pay. For example, you see a girls outfit that you would like to buy and the bid is currently $1. You are willing to pay $3 for the outfit, so bid $3. What eBay then do is increase the current bid by the smallest increment. So in this example, you are now the highest bidder at $1.10. If someone else bids for the outfit, but puts $2 as their highest bid, eBay will automatically increase your bid to $2.10. Ebay will never go over your highest bid. If no-one bids higher than you, you win the outfit.
Payment is generally specified in the auction listing. You can normally pay by Credit Card, PayPal or check. I would always suggest using PayPal, as usually eBay protect you against problems if you use PayPal. Check the listing to see if they do, but this is usually for higher priced items. PayPal is easy to use, you register similarly to eBay, then use your credit card to make the payment.
And that's how to buy from eBay. It's very easy to get up and running and once you do it's very addictive. If you do run into problems there is a great community on eBays forums where you can get questions answered. Once you are registered you can also list items on eBay for sale. This is very easy to do, and eBay have an excellent tutorial on doing this.
